Free Tuition To Stanford University
Have you dreamed of going to Stanford University in Palo Alto, California either for yourself or your children, but there was no way you couldn afford it? After all the tuition itself is $36,000 a year and that doesn't count books and living expenses. It appears that now you may be able to make your dream come true. This week Stanford niversity announced that they would offer free tuition to undergraduates from middle class families. These are families who earn less than $100,000 a year, which appears to be the threshhold for being "middle class". This is not entirely a good will gesture on the part of Stanford as the government has been telling the top schools that they need to use more of the massive endowments to help students from middle class families. When you learn that Harvard has an endowment fund of almost 35 million you can understand why the government is telling all the top schools to spread it around a little and help some students who can't afford the tuition. I would imagine the government has also hinted that either they spend some of that money this way or Uncle Sam would figure out a way to tap into it. Stanford has just over 17 billion in the bank so I think they can afford to bankroll a few top students who overwise might have to settle for a lesser regarded school. To some this may look like another step toward socialism but in the long run it will benefit the nation as a whole with increased wealth for everyone. Now the smart but broke kids will have a chance to contribute to the well being of the country with their brain power. Now that Stanford has stepped forward I imagine other schools won't be far behind especially with a little more prodding from our Uncle. This potential opportunity is something that students and parents should keep on top of. Check with all the schools you may have applied to or are thinking of and see what they are doing concerning this.

As a parent who really couldn't afford to send his kids to Stanford I believe this is may be the opportunity of a lifetime and urge you to take advantage if possible.
