How Important Is Weight Loss?
How many people do you know that are happy with their weight? Most people wish they could lose some weight but many don't admit it. They say they are happy with their body while wishing they could find a diet that would work for them without being a lot of work. Many of them know that losing some weight would make them a lot healthier at least in the long run. There a number of reasons why you should consider losing some weight even if you don't mind carrying a few extra pounds around. First of all, if you are overweight you're at risk for a number of diseases. The main one being heart disease which can lead to a heart attack and can be deadly. Heart disease occurs when your heart has to work harder to pump blood throughout your body and it becomes fatigued. This can happen when you're overweight, have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Along with heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels can also cause you to have a stroke. Strokes happen when blood, which carries the oxygen, can't reach the brain. The high cholesterol causes fatty deposits, known as plaque, to build up on your artery walls which blocks the flow of blood and causes your heart to work harder. Even worse is when a piece of this plaque breaks off and travels to the brain causing a stroke or to the heart causing a heart attack. Being overweight is bad for women who want to have a child. Being overweight, the hormones in your body change and if you don't get the right nutrients you might not have the right chemicals needed for the hormones to help you ovulate or carry a child. You're also at risk of a miscarriage or health problems with the baby if you're overweight while pregnant. There are a number of other ways that being overweight can affect your life such as, having a hard time finding clothing you like in your size or having to pay more for it. Other things such as not being able to ride all the rides at an amusement park or being crowded into seats in a bus that are too small are the type of things that cause a overweight person to no be able to enjoy life as much as they would like to. Even if you are happy with your weight but are a few pounds over your ideal weight, you might want to consider doing something to lose them before they become a problem for your health. It's easy to lose a couple of pounds without changing your lifestyle very much, but the more you need to lose the harder it is. Losing weight can be a healthy and smart option any time you're over your normal weight.
